Easy Sewing Crafts: Waldorfy and Fun for All!

What can I say?  I was very unhappy with the beginner Waldorf books on sewing wool felt for kids. There were no projects available that a child could sit down to do by themselves. So, I did thorough research and purchased these two books.  I was pleasantly surprised-I imagined we would do the Softies first-since they were bigger. However, the Cutie book was soo simple and easy-my kids just picked it up and followed along it it and created some cute animals which they love.  The best part was seeing them sit down and work by themselves-as the instructions are very thorough and easy to follow along.  The Softie book-the tooth you see- is also very good-projects are big and inspiring and it comes with patterns in the back.  These are kind of fun and creative animals and inanimate things with faces like cupcakes and ice cream bars.  They also liked this-but equally-they enjoy looking at the books over and over and knowing that they can sit down and make anything they like!  We used a bunch of Waldorf wool felt and stuffing-a needle and thread-and that is basically it. Some projects call for a dab of glue or even googly eyes-but it is not necessary.....

When my seven year old was small-we started him out on sewing cards and bead stringing but this was him and I's second project together where we sewed something and it turned out great-he made a tooth pillow.....

  1. I agree that the Aranzi Aronzo books are perfect for kids to use by themselves. My daughter loves it. I like reading your blog, and have put it on my favorites list.
