As you probably already know- with us being Irish dancers, we LIVE for St. Paddy's day! Every year we read Tommy De Paola's St. Patrick book or pull out our Waldorf book of saints- and read a story from that. The wonderful stories of St. Patrick inspired my son to choose Patrick for his confirmation name. For food, I make a simple Irish soda bread, as I am not keen on most Irish cuisine. Listening to Irish music is already a staple in our household and one of my best friends is in an Irish band- so, it is a delightful connection for us. For Waldorf crafts, we made a simple shamrock-then we wrapped it around cotton pipe cleaners and changed out our Ostheimer St. Nick's staff for the clover. This is our make shift St. Patrick- but making a felted St. Patrick is on my list of priorities- along with King Winter.
Happy St. Patricks day to you : )

What a wonderful idea! I hadn't thought of making a shamrock :D I did make a St. Patrick so I'll have to put up a picture of him soon. Love how you swapped out the staff for St. Nick - very clever!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be a fly on your wall while you guys are making Celtic music and dancing your Irish jigs! We also love the Tomie book and it's so neat that it inspired your son so much! Very cool post, Aurore!
Oh thank you my dear friend! I will post a video from St. Pats day from last year tomorrow- it was nice, the band Shamrock Shore let my son play a song with them-one of my favorites- loch lomond-and he is using a Choroi Flute in it-
ReplyDeleteIt is my favorite thing- I love the Irish culture-
