Ok, Ok, I know I will get a lot of flack for this-but I bought this snowflake kit several years ago from Hearthsong-yes the catalog that has pseudo Waldorf toys made in China. I bought it after season and like the stockings, I soon realized that it was a simple pattern I could have done myself. I noticed these snowflakes in the catalog year after year-not a bad project and easy to make. I have now bought natural gemstone beads from Lima beads in Ann Arbor. They make a high quality gift-especially if you can afford a few faceted pieces. I try to stay away from crystals because of the lead content...my own issues ; )
However, we have made these for our Christmas trees and have given them as gifts. I warn though- I ended making the most of them-finally with my 11 and 12 year old I think we will be able to crank enough of these out for Christmas gifts next year. I would like to sit down and make about 20 to give out on Christmas day and Christmas parties....

You should be easily able to find the snowflake patterns on the internet-but don't be afraid to buy the kit to get you going-it is a very rewarding craft...we have even made small ones for necklaces.......WONDERFUL-
This one I have shown is prehenite-you can't see it but it is light green with flecks of darker green......
