Advent Books for Christmas: Our Favorite
We bought this book a few years ago from Wynstone Press through Bob and Nancy's bookshop. Out of all our Christmas books this and the St. Nicholas stories in the beginning of Dec. are the favorites. The stories of Mary and Joseph on the way to Bethlehem to have the Christ store are endearing and moving for my children. I have to admit as an adult the stories to me, come up a bit short but I think it is because of my own adulterated childhood that I am still trying to overcome. However, the kids ask for the stories every night and my children have made many block crayon pictures and calligraphy. In fact for my daughter for Christmas this year my sons and I are working on a wet and dry felted Mary and child "painting" for her. The stories are divided up into one story a night for the four advent weeks. The first week is elemental, so we add a big quartz Crystal by the nativity, the next week is horticulture, so we add a tree by the nativity set, the third is animal so we then add a cow and donkey to the nativity and the last week is human- we add the Christ child. Wonderful stories and add to the wonderment of childhood.
