The Winter Waldorf Festivals at your local Waldorf school are a wonderful opportunity to connect with interesting people in the midst of a long cold winter. Last year we performed our Irish dance routine for the students in the gym at the Oakland Steiner in January. After the show we walked around and visited all of the different rooms. If you have never been to a Waldorf school, then you are in for a pleasant surprise. A far cry from the modern day sanitariums and medical looking educational facilities-they are painted in traditional watercolor lazure painting and are delightfully filled with all types of artistic displays. The picture here is of a free lyre lesson given by the first grade teacher. She magically unveiled the lyres all hidden in different colored silks-and behold-my son was mesmorized. It is my dream to one day send all of my children to
the Waldorf but until then we will continue to visit them and take advantage of all of the color, culture and completeness that it has to offer. Here is a video of our day-hope you enjoy!
